Accessibility

Retirement planning tools should work for everyone. We design and build Downshift with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our standard.

What we've built in

• Full keyboard operability, with a skip-to-content link and visible focus indicators throughout;
• Semantic HTML with labeled form controls, described errors, and ARIA where it helps rather than everywhere;
• Color contrast meeting AA on text and interface elements, and information never conveyed by color alone;
• Charts paired with data tables and text summaries, so results are readable without the graphics;
• Touch targets of at least 44 pixels on mobile and inputs sized for comfortable use;
• Respect for your reduced-motion system preference — the site is essentially motion-free anyway;
• Support for browser zoom to 200% and text resizing without loss of function.

Known limitations

PDF guides are generated with tagged text and a logical reading order, but complex layout elements may read imperfectly in some screen readers; every guide's key content also exists as web pages. If you hit anything else, we want to know.
